De-escalation is an important skill to learn and maintain in order to assist the people we serve in regulating emotions when a behavior plan is either absent or does not address a new challenging behavior. This session will review the safety and teach the steps to de-escalate when conflict occurs. We will also define and discuss the importance of building rapport and maintaining positive interactions throughout our work. The better relationships we have with the people we serve, the better quality of life we can provide for them! Objectives of Training: 1. Discuss safety in de-escalation 2. Define and discuss steps in de-escalation 3. Define and discuss positive staff interactions 4. Define and discuss negative staff interactions This workshop will provide 1.5 hours of Continuing Education for: Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP), Licensed Nursing Home Administrator (LNHA), Licensed Occupational Therapist (OT), Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA), Licensed Physical Therapist (PT) and Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Advanced Practice Nurse (ANP), Registered Nurse (RN) & Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Continuing Education Certificates will be provided to all registered attendees.
